Why STEM is important in teaching.
Good Morning Everyone,
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Now you might be wondering why this topic is important to me. I feel that we are able to give the tools needed for our students/children for future jobs. Here are some websites that offer more information about STEM and the importance of it.
https://iowastem.gov/resources/Cool%20STEM%20Websiteshttps://iowastem.gov/resources/Cool%20STEM%20Websites. I was able to attend the Iowa Governors STEM event day. It was a wonderful networking event with several different resources and guest speakers. I learned how important it is to have your students have hands on experience to see if they would actually be interested in the field. This saves our students money and time if they are not interested when they get to college.
The next website that I am going to share with you is the top 8 STEM Websites: https://www.informationweek.com/strategic-cio/it-strategy/8-stem-websites-to-excite-kids-about-tech/d/d-id/1317975
With this we are able to see several cool websites. I want to pay special interest to Code.org. When I went to the Governors STEM event I was able to hear the creator of Code.org speak. He was amazing and after examination of his website I feel that it is one powerful tool that our students can use every day. With all of their gaming that takes place you are able to create your own game or play a game using the codes you created. I found it interesting how easy it is to use and how cutting edge it is. My children love it as well as other children that I have talked to.
My main reasons for teaching STEM is my duty to teach our own children as well as students the skills that they will need to become successful in the future. STEM is fun so enjoy the ride.
